
Elective Arts
Elective Arts give students the opportunity to explore a wide range of creative skills and subjects, helping them discover new interests and develop existing talents. By rotating a variety of elective courses each semester, students are encouraged to try something new and expand their creative horizons. In addition to these rotating options, we also offer select yearlong courses that allow for deeper skill-building, long-term projects, and sustained artistic growth.
Martial Arts: 3rd-6th Grades

Students in this class will learn and develop the basic fundamentals of martial arts, while incorporating life skills such as discipline, respect, and self-esteem. The 3rd-6th grade class will be exciting, fun, and fulfilling for each student because Taekwondo is an individual activity rather than a team sport.
Through their training students will gain a positive mental attitude, learn to set achievable goals, and gain confidence in themselves as they grow in their Taekwondo training.

Culinary Arts: 7th-12th Grades

Culinary Arts offers students hands-on experience in both cooking and baking while building essential life skills and culinary knowledge. Students will learn proper kitchen safety and sanitation, knife skills, ingredient preparation, and a variety of cooking techniques.
Through increasingly complex recipes and projects, students will explore flavor development, nutrition, and food presentation. This course emphasizes creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration, while providing a strong foundation for lifelong cooking skills or future culinary studies.

Culinary Arts: 3rd-6th Grades

Culinary Arts introduces students to the exciting world of cooking and baking through hands-on learning and creativity. Students will explore basic kitchen skills, food safety, and simple recipes while learning how to measure, mix, chop, and prepare a variety of dishes.
Through both cooking and baking projects, students will build confidence in the kitchen, practice teamwork, and discover how food connects to culture, math, and science. This class encourages creativity, responsibility, and a love for preparing and sharing food.

Martial Arts: 7th-12th Grades

Our 7th-12th grade students will not only learn and develop the basic fundamentals of martial arts, while incorporating life skills such as discipline, respect, and self-esteem; they will also dive deep into more advanced conditioning and discipline controls as they grow in their abilities.
Students will focus on improving flexibility, strength and balance, not only in martial arts, but in everyday life. Those in this class will experience intense physical training as they enhance their knowledge of Taekwondo forms.

Mock Trial/Debate: 3rd-6th Grades

Mock Trial & Debate class introduces students to speaking up, thinking on their feet, and working as a team. Through fun debates, role-playing activities, and simplified mock trials, students learn how to share ideas clearly, listen respectfully, and support their opinions with reasons.
This class helps build confidence, communication skills, and an early understanding of fairness, rules, and problem-solving in an engaging and age-appropriate way. Semester 1 Only

Gardening: 7th-12th Grades

Gardening invites students to learn through hands-on interaction with the natural world. Students will explore plant life cycles, soil health, composting, and sustainable growing practices while planning, planting, and maintaining a garden space. The course emphasizes observation, patience, and responsibility as students track growth, troubleshoot challenges, and care for living systems over time.
Through seasonal projects and real-world applications, students gain practical skills, environmental awareness, and an understanding of how gardening connects to food systems, science, and community. Semester 1 Only

Mock Trial/Debate: 7th-12th Grades

Mock Trial & Debate challenges students to analyze issues, construct persuasive arguments, and communicate with clarity and confidence. Students will engage in structured debates and simulated court proceedings, taking on roles such as attorneys, witnesses, and judges.
Emphasis is placed on research, critical thinking, public speaking, and collaboration, while encouraging students to evaluate multiple perspectives and defend their positions effectively. This course strengthens academic skills and prepares students for civic engagement, leadership, and advanced communication. Semester 2 Only

Sewing: 7th-12th Grades

Sewing immerses students in the art of designing and constructing wearable pieces for performance, storytelling, and self-expression. Students will learn foundational sewing techniques, fabric selection, pattern reading, and basic garment construction while creating costume elements inspired by theater, history, fantasy, and character design.
Emphasis is placed on creativity, craftsmanship, and problem-solving as students transform ideas into finished pieces. This class encourages imagination, attention to detail, and hands-on skill development through the process of bringing characters to life through costume. Semester 1 Only
